MATH 5010: Topics in Analysis I
Description: Advanced topics in analysis. With a change of content, this course is repeatable to a maximum of twelve credits.
MATH 5010 - Section 1: Ergodic Theory
Description: Reviewing Lebesgue spaces. Measure preserving systems, recurrence theorem (Poincare theorem). Subbadditive and Multiplicative theorems and their applications to other theorems, for example Szemeredi's theorem in number theory. Notions of mixing, weak mixing, and unique ergodicity. Spectral theory. Metric and topological entropy.
Prerequisites: Familiarity with the measure theory is recommended. We will remind necessary tools whenever needed.
