Textbook: Calculus, Early Transcendentals, by James Stewart 6ed, with a WebAssign code.
Grading Policy: Your grade will be calculated as follows:

Quizzes 5%
Homework (WebAssign) 20%
Exam 1 20%
Exam 2 20%
Final Exam 35%
Gateway Exam Pass/Fail
Exams: There are two common evening exams, scheduled for October 9 and November 13 in TLS 154 from 6-8 PM. No makeup exams will be allowed without a documented excuse and approval prior to the exam.
Gateway Exam: The Gateway Exam will be available on WebAssign in MacLab MSB 203 starting October 23 through November 17. No calculators will be allowed. The exam is pass/fail only, no partial credit; however, the exam may be retaken as many times as necessary within the allowed period. Failure to pass the Gateway Exam will lower the course grade by one full letter grade.
Quizzes: Several short quizzes (15-20 min.) will be given throughout the semester, announced in advance. No makeup quizzes will be allowed.
Homework: Homework will be turned in using WebAssign. No late homeworks will be accepted.
Attendance: Attending each lecture is strongly encouraged. You will be responsible for all material presented in class.
Calculators: Calculators will be allowed during exams and quizzes, but all work must be shown in order to receive full credit on each problem. Graphing calculators will be very helpful in this course, in particular models TI 82, 83, 85 or 86. However, calculators that can perform symbolic operations (such as the HP 28 or 48, or TI-92 or 89) are not allowed. If you bring a calculator to an exam, make sure it cannot perform alphanumeric manipulation.
Classroom Behavior: Please be respectful of your classmates during lecture. Remember to turn off your cell phone or set it to silent mode before the start of class.
Academic Integrity: Academic misconduct of any kind will not be tolerated. Cheating on any assignment will result in a zero grade for that assignment, and a possible fail for the entire course. For a full explanation of the policies, see the following web page: http://www.sp.uconn.edu/~ml201vc/misconduct.html.
Tutoring: Free tutoring is available at the Q-Center. Check their web site, http://www.qcenter.uconn.edu, for more information (such as location and times)
