Abstract: Nielsen theory is concerned with finding the minimum number of solutions to certain equations involving maps, minimized among all the maps in a given homotopy class. The classical setting for the subject is Neilsen fixed point theory which studies a map f:X-->X on a compact ANR and seeks to find the minimum number MF[f] of solutions to the fixed point equation g(x) = x among all maps homotopic to f.
