A Crapshoot in the Poopchute
a mercilessly neverending but mercifully neglected sketchstravaganza from a guy who is me, specifically

19.02.2008   Just some sketchies that aren't showing up too well. For whatever reason, I always find myself posing people so that we're looking up at their faces, like they have their head tilted back or it's a worm's eye view, or whatever. The problem with that is that I am really bad at drawing up folks' nostrils, so this was just an attempt to figure it out a little.

They didn't come out too well, and were still difficult. Too many damn angles to keep track of, I say. Oh well, back to the Stone of Shame.
12.02.2008   More different stuff, more same stuff. Just some stuff, really.

I had a grand idea for this awesome mystery about a serial killer who left numerological clues at the sites of his murders, teasing Gary Sinise as he feebly tried to solve the crimes. Then I decided to turn the idea into a weird and bad cartoon, without Gary Sinise, instead of into a CSI:NY script. (I didn't really have any ideas, I don't know what I was drawing here.)

Now here's a classy effort. Uh, it's supposed to be a lady wookiee, if that wasn't clear. I was thinking of making it into a banner: "Home of the Web's Best Wookiee Porn," but then I ran out of coal for my steam engine. Good lord, what am I talking about? See y'all next post.
29.01.2008   Why did I even bother coming back, you ask? Shouldn't I just quit and not pretend to still update this waste of webspace? Why am I still asking questions of myself instead of getting to the point? The answer to all of those questions (and more) is "I don't know." I probably should have just left the towel where it was (thrown in, we presume), but instead here I am in a new year, with a new page. But that's not all that's new. Number One, there is a new scanner! (My parents got it for me for Christmas.) The new scanner was somehow not enough to get me drawing again (I mean I've had it for almost a month), so a day or two ago I got myself, Number Two, a new (unreasonably nice) travel-sized sketchbook (impulse buy at a book/art store...damn those checkout line displays). The latter now has me using the former, and all I have for presentation is this crap.

While sitting around my office today I drew this into ye newe sketchbooke with some pens. Not penciling first was interesting, and a little insulting since my penciled and inked drawings are no better. (I was drawing from a photo I found online by Andrew Eccles, who has some pretty interesting portraits.) It's not very good, but I don't really care...I was most interested in getting myself back in the habit, a la Sister Act 2. Oh dear lord, did I really just reference that movie?
Anyway, here's hoping I post more this year than last!
