Graduate Level Teaching
Spring 2012
This course was designed specifically for participants of the UConn Math Leadership Academy. Prerequisites are EDCI 5830: Math Pedagogy and Leadership; EDCI 5830: Curriculum Laboratory: Content and Pedagogy, and Math 5800: Algebraic and Proportional Reasoning for Secondary Teaching. This course is the final in set of four courses. The main focus of this course is integrate participant's knowledge from the summer and fall MLA courses and apply it to this course as part of a collaborative math leadership community within and across school districts. Teachers will continue to gain in-depth knowledge of proportional and algebraic reasoning; strengthen ability to analyze and interpret related student work; and develop pedagogical strategies to support related student learning. The following link contains more details about UConn MLA: Math Leadership Academy. MLA teachers will lead this exciting conference that will highlight their activities throughout the school year. These teachers have been involved with UConn in an intensive training program in mathematics content, pedagogy, and leadership. The teacher-leaders will offer several sessions including a special session featuring a "live" model of collaborative leadership.
