Directions to UConn from Amherst or Bradley Airport
Driving Instructions
- Take I-91 south towards Hartford. You will want to switch over to I-84 east. The I-84 east exit off of I-91 south is a little north
of Hartford on the LEFT side of the road. (If you miss the exit, just keep going on I-91 and drive past Hartford, get off one of the exits, and turn around to head north on I-91 back towards Hartford. You will find an exit for I-84 east off of I-91 north a little south of Hartford on the RIGHT side of the road.)
- Get off I-84 east at exit 68 and take a right at the end of the exit ramp
so you're heading SOUTH.
- You are now on Route 195, which you stay on for 7 miles.
- You will be driving on Route 195 through the middle of nowhere for
those seven miles. During this time you will pass through 3
intersections where there will be gas stations or other stores. You
could stop at any of these places to check that you're still heading
towards UConn if you think you're driving aimlessly.
- Eventually the trees fall away and you will see the campus. (The
change will be quite noticeable.)
- To show you what the local area is like, look at a campus map
here.
- You'll be on Route 195 coming in from the right edge of the
map. You take a right off of Route 195 onto North Eagleville Road
(there is a traffic light and a church at this corner with Route 195)
and then drive along North Eagleville with the main campus on your
left (some campus buildings will be on your right too). Take a left at the second set of traffic lights, which is only 100 feet or so past the first set of traffic lights after the crest of a hill.
- This second light is the intersection of North Eagleville and North Hillside. The left turn here will take you into the campus proper (there'll be a big
blue sign "Univ. of CT" at the entrance). As you turn into campus,
there is a parking garage ahead on your left and a large open parking lot on your right. The parking garage is marked
NPRK (=North Parking Structure) on the map. It costs money, but no
more than a few dollars and the department can validate the parking
stub you'll pick up when you go into the garage so you needn't pay at
all. (Rates for the parking garage can be found
here.)
To get into the garage, drive all the way up to the stop sign and take a
left. You'll then be driving along the front of the garage and the entrance is at the far end. The open parking lot does not require a permit after 4 PM or on weekends, so you can use it during those times without getting a ticket. But during regular business hours (before 4 PM) you should use the parking garage.
- The Math building is MSB, which is right below NPRK as part of the PB/MSB/GANT/IMS collection of buildings. Enter MSB and take the elevator
to the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floors, which is where faculty offices are.
