Thomas McCabe Visiting Fellowship in Entrepreneurship & Mathematical Sciences

The second Thomas McCabe Visiting Fellowship in Entrepreneurship & Mathematical Sciences will be held jointly with the Statistics Department on April 13.

The fellow this year will be Dr. Cleve Moler, Chairman and Chief Scientist of the Mathworks Company, which produces the Matlab products. Dr. Moler, a former Professor of Mathematics at New Mexico and a past SIAM President, is one of the original creators of Matlab. The company that he heads now employs 2,200 persons world-wide.

Dr. Moler's main presentation will make will be at 1:00 p.m. in the Konover Auditorium in the Dodd Center, followed by a panel discussion at 2:00 p.m. The panel discussion will be followed by a reception at 3:00 p.m.

Dr. Moler has expressed an interest in meeting as many faculty and students to hear about their computational interests and problems. At 10:00 a.m., Dr. Moler will hold a class for undergraduate and graduate students interested in computing in Room 313 in the CLAS building.
