Welcome
The Mathematics Department has excellent Faculty and
Postdoctoral Fellows who combine considerable
expertise in many fields across Pure and Applied Mathematics,
Probability, Computational Mathematics, and the Actuarial Sciences.
One fascinating application some faculty members are involved is the
Virtual Cell Project. The aim of this project, carried out in
collaboration with the UConn Health Center, is to develop a computational
tool for the study of cellular physiological processes.

Dmitriy Leykekhman will receive NSF funding for his research proposal "Discontinuous galerkin methods for optimal control problems governed by Advection-Diffusion Equations" for a period of three years. (July 2008)
