Graduate Prelim Exams The table below provides links to past prelim exams. The most recent syllabi for the prelim exams in the different areas are in the last row of the table. Course numbers at UConn changed from 3 digits to 4 digits starting in Aug. 2008, so prelim exams before and after this date have different numbers (e.g., Algebra used to be Math 315 and starting in August 2008 it became Math 5210). The three tracks in the Ph.D. program (pure, applied, actuarial) each require 4 prelims. They are as follows.
