Assistant Professor of Math/Associate Director of Q Center

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Connecticut announces an opening for a ten month, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in Mathematics and Associate Director of the UniversityÕs Quantitative Learning Center (Q Center) beginning in fall 2008.

The Quantitative Learning Center (Q Center) is a resource to elevate the proficiency of students taking quantitative intensive courses across the undergraduate curriculum. It assists students via peer tutoring, review sessions, and online services. It assists faculty in their teaching and serves as a clearinghouse for information about quantitative course issues within the university. The Associate Director will work closely with the Director of design, implement, and coordinate these activities, including supervision and support of our large, successful peer tutoring operations. The university is currently undergoing a $2.3 billion university-wide expansion of the research and teaching infrastructure. Support for undergraduate education is strong within the university. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in mathematics, potential for excellent research in mathematics or mathematics education, experience in mathematics education or outreach, demonstrated excellence in teaching, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively. Preference may be given to candidates whose interests are compatible with those currently represented in the department.
