Text: Calculus, Early Transcendentals,
Volume 2 by James Stewart (6th Edition), with Enhanced WebAssign (EWA) code.
There are several different ways to
buy the text and Enhanced WebAssign access. Here are a few
possibilities:
1.
You can get Volume 2 bundled together with EWA at the
UConn Coop or directly at the publishers ichapters
website. Either way the cost is around $94.
|
2.
If you are quite confident that you will be continuing on to Math 2110,
then you might look into buying the full edition of Stewart's Calculus,
Early Transcendentals, 6th edition. This can be purchased with Life of
Edition (LOE) EWA, at the UConn Coop or through ichapters for around
$184. Then you will be prepared for Math 1132 and Math 2110.
|
3.
You also have the option to purchase an ebook with Life of Edition
(LOE) EWA access for about $85. The ebook is an online version of the
full Stewart textbook viewable through the WebAssign website (not
downloadable to your computer). You will have access to it and
WebAssign when enrolled in any course using any part of the full
Stewart textbook (Math 1125-1126, Math 1131-1132, and Math 2110). This
is the cheapest option, especially for those continuing on to later
courses, but not ideal for those who prefer an actual book, they come
thumb through and keep for future reference. This can be purchased from
the UConn Coop or directly from WebAssign when you first login.

4.
It is hard to beat these deals but if you do find a copy
of Stewart on your own, the EWA code can be purchased either through
the Coop or directly from WebAssign when
you first login. You can get one semester access for $35 or LOE
access (which will get you through Math 1132 and Math 2110) for $50.

Whatever option you settle on, you will be able to get started right
away with webassign using your class key--available through your
instructor. WebAssign provides a two week grace period during which you
can use the website without inputing an EWA access code.
Note that while we provide information on pricing and availability,
this is only here to give you some idea of what's out there. We make no
guarantees.
Calculators: Graphing
calculators will be used in many sections of the course and you will be
able to have one with you during most exams (TI 82, 83, 85 or
86 recommended) (No alphanumeric formulas or notes stored
in memory are allowed.
The instructor may randomly ask for calculators and check for such
material. Their discovery will result in serious consequences.
Sanctions can include, but are not limited to, a letter sent to the
Dean of Students of the University; a grade of 0 on the assignment,
quiz or exam; a grade of F for the course.)
