Math 1131Q — Calculus I — Spring 2011

Text:

You can buy Early Transcendentals, Single Variable by Briggs and Cochran at the UConn Coop, online directly from the publilsher, and many other places. CAUTION: Make sure you get MyMathLab Plus codes bundled with the tex. Single Variable volume is used for both Math 1131 and Math 1132. You will need to purchase the multivariable volume for Math 2110. We chose the single volumes as the recommended text since we were able to have MyMathlab Plus codes (for life of edition) bundled with both semesters text. However, you are able to purchase combined versions (heavy book for 1131-1132-210).
The publisher has set up a special web page, http://vig.pearsoned.com/store/home?url=/uconn/calculus, for UConn students to purchase a text online with the MyMathlab plus codes bundled.

Homework and MyMathLab Plus:

The homework for Math 1131 is assigned online using the Mylabsplus online home work system. To access your homework online you must go to uconn.mylabsplus.com. Key points to remember:

Homework: There will be homework assignments for each section of the text. Each assignment will be made available on MyMathLab Plus several days before the section is covered in class. The due date for each assignment will be set by your instructor and will generally be three days after the material is covered in class. You will get 5 attempts to answer each none multiple choice question and two attempts for each multiple choice question. After each attempt, you will be told whether your answer is correct or not. If you are not able to get the correct answer after your initial attempts, we recommend that you seek help from your instructor, the Q-Center, a tutor, or another student.

Quizzes: There will be a quiz on each homework assignment. These quizzes will be timed assignments on MyMathLab Plus and will generally be due one day after the homework assignment. There may be additional quizzes in the discussion sections.
