Applied Finite Mathematics (Tomastik & Epstein; ISBN10: 0-495-83960-4; ISBN13: 978-0-495-83960-6). The text will be covered in the order Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6, Chapter F, Chapter 1, Chapter 2, and Chapter 3. View the course outline for more details.

Exams:

There will be evening exams from 6PM-8PM on Wednesday, 22 February 2012, and Wednesday, 4 April 2012. If you have a conflict with either evening exam, contact us NOW. Only scientific (non-graphing) calculators will be allowed on the exams.

Homework:

There will be regular graded homework through WebAssign. For those of you without an existing WebAssign account, your login information is: username = your NetID; institution code = uconn; initial password = your student ID #; your password should be changed immediately. It is your responsibility to be aware of the associated deadlines.

Quizzes:

There will be regular quizzes and/or other assessments during discussion sections. Makeup quizzes will, as a rule, not be given. If missed for a university accepted reason, the quiz portion of the grade will be computed ignoring that quiz. No calculators will be allowed on quizzes.

Grades:

The semester grade will be computed from five hundred (500) total points. These points will be distributed between the evening exams (100 points each), the final exam (150 points), online homework (75 points), and discussion section (75 points).

Office Hours and Additional Help:

You are welcome to attend the office hours of any of the instructor for this course. These are listed under "Office Hours" on the left. It is essential that you come to office hours to resolve any difficulties or questions with the course material.

For academic matters (absences, grades, etc.), you need to speak with either your lecturer or your discussion section instructor. All of us are available to meet by appointment (send an email!).

Extra help is also available through the Q-Center. The Q-Center provides free tutoring on a drop-in basis and exam review sessions.

Academic Integrity:

Please be familiar with the university policy on academic integrity (http://www.community.uconn.edu/academic_integrity.html). All breaches of this code of conduct will be taken seriously and handled as per university regulations.

Special Accommodations:

Student Athletes and Students with Disabilities should inform your instructor as soon as possible of your commitments as an athlete, any special needs that you have, etc. This is your responsibility. You will expected to bring in a letter from the Athletics Department or the Center for Students with Disabilities. The sooner you us, the better we will be able to accommodate you.

The University Senate passed a motion on about religious observances which stipulated that Students anticipating such a conflict should inform their instructor in writing within the first three weeks of the semester, and prior to the anticipated absence, and should take the initiative to work out with the instructor a schedule for making up missed work. For conflicts with final examinations, students should, as usual, contact the Office of Student Services and Advocacy.
