The Mathematics Department at the University of Connecticut's Storrs Campus hosted the international conference — AGAMOCR 2007: Abelian Groups and Modules over Commutative Rings. The conference surveyed recent results in several closely related areas of commutative algebra. The program includes presentations by plenary and invited speakers from Monday, June 11 through Friday, June 15. A mathematical education component include a public lecture and a session of invited talks on undergraduate projects in algebra. The planned social activities encourage communication and interaction. The conference is sponsored by The National Security Agency, and the University of Connecticut's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Graduate School, Office of Sponsored Programs, Neag School of Education, and Department of Mathematics.

The conference organizers are Sarah Glaz, Alan Stein, Charles Vinsonhaler, and William Wickless. The entire algebra group of the mathematics department, combining a variety of algebraic interests and vigorous research programs, is involved in this conference in various capacities. We and our colleagues at the Neag School of Education welcomed to the campus over one hundred participants, hailing from seventeen countries, across four continents, for five days of stimulating presentations and discussions and a fruitful exchange of ideas.
